Thanks to its reasonable rates, proximity to Bandra station and massy vibe, watching a film here is a memorable experience. Several stars often visit Gaiety-Galaxy to gauge audience reaction, which further adds to its appeal. Hence, moviegoers, trade and industry would be shocked to learn that the theatre complex has been temporarily shut down.
As per a post by journalist Narendra Gupta, Gaiety-Galaxy was asked to cease operations due to non-renewal of its license. As a result, all the 6 theatres will remain closed until further notice.
Narendra Gupta also posted a picture of a notice outside the theatre gate from the Mumbai Police stating that the cinema hall has been closed because the management did not renew its license. Reportedly, the theatre was operational until yesterday, that is, Sunday, September 6 and is not playing shows today.

Krishnavataram: Part 1 – Hridayam, the first instalment of the planned Krishnavataram trilogy, is set to expand its international reach following a collaboration between Creativeland Studios and the World Forum for Art and Culture (WFAC), the global cultural wing of The Art of Living.
The collaboration was formalised on Janmashtami in the presence of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Founder of The Art of Living. As part of the association, an MoU has been signed under which Gurudev will guide the team on the film’s global presentation and the development of the larger trilogy.

The lease has been signed for a period of 28 months, with the total rent payable over the tenure amounting to approximately Rs 2.46 crores, according to property registration documents accessed by CRE Matrix.
The lease commenced on August 1, 2026, while the agreement was registered on September 1, 2026. As per the documents, the initial monthly licence fee for the two office units has been fixed at Rs 8,26,875. The transaction also includes a security deposit of Rs 30 lakhs.
