Rachin Ravindra has been ruled out of New Zealand’s five-match 2026 T20 series against India after dislocating his right shoulder, while Adam Milne has returned to a pace-heavy 16-member squad for the series next month.
White-ball captain Mitchell Santner will lead the Black Caps, who have named seven fast bowlers in the squad as they prepare to face the reigning T20 world champions across four cities.
Ravindra suffered the shoulder injury during a promotional shoot last week and is expected to require around six weeks of rehabilitation.
Milne, meanwhile, returns to the New Zealand cricket team more than a year after his last international appearance against Zimbabwe.
The 34-year-old joins an experienced pace contingent featuring Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson and Jacob Duffy, with Zak Foulkes and Nathan Smith completing the seven-man fast-bowling group.
Milne and spin-bowling all-rounder Michael Bracewell are also back after injuries kept them out of New Zealand’s run to the final of the T20 World Cup earlier this year.
Thirteen members of that World Cup squad have been retained for the India series.
At the top of the order, Finn Allen and Tim Seifert are set to reunite while Devon Conway, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman and Bevon Jacobs provide further batting options, while Santner and Bracewell lead the spin resources.
Ben Sears was unavailable for selection as he continues his rehabilitation from an ankle injury.
The five-match series begins at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on October 22 and will be the first meeting between India and New Zealand since the T20 World Cup final in March.
