ALIGARH, October 9: The Department of Ilmul Amraz, Faculty of Unani Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), observed World Mental Health Day 2026 with a lecture on psychological well-being, focusing on the effects of mobile phone use, overthinking and academic stress.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Dr Ataullah Fahad, Chairperson, Department of Ilmul Amraz, on the theme “Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change”. Around 30 students, along with teaching and non-teaching staff members, attended the event.
Prof. Shah Alam, Chairperson, Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts, AMU, delivered the guest lecture. He discussed the impact of mobile phone use and excessive thinking on mental health and shared practical suggestions for maintaining psychological well-being. He also emphasised the importance of effective study schedules and time management in reducing academic stress and balancing academic responsibilities with personal well-being.
Dr Ataullah Fahad presented a certificate of appreciation to Prof. Shah Alam in recognition of his contribution to promoting mental health awareness.
The programme highlighted the importance of healthy daily habits, listening to individual experiences and adopting practical approaches to mental well-being.
