T20 World Cup trophy safely in their keeping, Sophie Molineux’s side now face a 50-over subcontinental assignment before Christmas
Australia will travel to Sri Lanka for a bilateral ODI series for the first time in more than a decade, with a three-match tour schedule in December announced today.
The two sides will not have squared off in the format in more than seven years by the time the series gets underway, after their proposed 2025 World Cup clash in Colombo was washed out.
The three contests will be played in the space of six days in Dambulla, with the Australians scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on December 10.

The series will follow on from another three-match ODI assignment for the Australians, in Brisbane against Bangladesh from October 9-14, and a three-match T20I series at North Sydney from October 18-22.
Australia have won all 19 of their white-ball matches against Sri Lanka, stretching back to December 2000. This will be the side’s first ODI showdown since a three-match series in Brisbane in October 2019 was won handily by the hosts, with the third of those victories marking a world record 18th straight victory in the format.
The current side has lost just one of its past 14 ODIs, though that was the heartbreaking World Cup semi-final defeat to India last October, which ended their defence of the trophy.
In 2026, Australia are six wins from six in the format: a clean sweep at home to India was followed by another three-match sweep in the Caribbean, where the Sophie Molineux captaincy era began.
The Sri Lanka matches in December form part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2025–2029 cycle.
