BCCI invites IPL stakeholders for a review meeting on Oct 15

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has called a meeting of all IPL stakeholders on October 15. The call follows the decision taken at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) to conduct the next edition of the IPL on a grand scale.

“We have invited all the stakeholders of the IPL, including franchise owners, broadcasters and hosting state associations,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told Cricbuzz on Friday, confirming the meeting. “It is a follow-up to our earlier decision to conduct the next season of the IPL, which will be the 20th edition, on a grand scale.”

It is expected that the 13 state associations that normally host IPL games have been invited to the meeting. Besides, representatives of the broadcaster, in this case JioStar, have also been invited. The venue has not yet been finalised, but given the expected turnout, the meeting will likely be held outside the BCCI headquarters.

“We have not yet finalised the venue. We have just shortlisted a few options. We will take a final call soon,” the BCCI secretary added. It is understood that the meeting will be held at Taj Santacruz at 6 pm on October 15.

“As the league approaches its landmark 20th season in 2027, the BCCI proposes to convene a joint meeting of all key stakeholders, namely the State associations that hosted IPL matches, the Franchise owners and their Chief Executive Officers and the Broadcasters. The meeting is intended to review the issues and learnings from the past seasons, address any concerns and deliberate on the planning and coordination for the 2027 season,” Saikia wrote in his letter to the state associations which is in possession of this website.

“The State Associations play a central role in the successful staging of the League and your perspective on matters of hosting, venue operations, and match-day coordination will be of great value to these deliberations,” Saikia further wrote, adding, “We look forward to your presence and valuable inputs and to working together toward making the 20th season of the IPL a truly memorable one.”
