New Delhi: Chinmaya Mission today concluded the three-day Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav Global Sammelan at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, marking the culmination of its year-long celebrations commemorating 75 years of the Chinmaya Movement. Bringing together over 9,000 participants from India and overseas, the Sammelan celebrated the enduring legacy of Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda through spiritual discourses, cultural performances, intergenerational engagement and immersive experiences that connected the Mission’s philosophical foundations with contemporary life.

The Sammelan was inaugurated on October 23 by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, who commended the Mission’s efforts to take Gurudev’s teachings to younger generations and highlighted the role of yuva shakti in nation-building. The three-day gathering also saw the participation of Hon’ble External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar and Stefan Priesner, United Nations Resident Coordinator in India, on the concluding day. It was also graced by a distinguished delegation of around 80 ambassadors, reflecting its international reach and the relevance of Vedantic philosophy in fostering dialogue and understanding across communities and nations.

The inauguration also celebrated the remarkable journey of the Chinmaya Amrit Yatra, a 300-day spiritual pilgrimage spanning nearly 40,000 kilometres across India, Nepal and Sri Lanka, taking Gurudev’s teachings to communities across the region. Launched from Chinmaya Vibhooti in Pune on December 31, 2025, the Yatra carried Gurudev’s teachings, sacred belongings and archival material to communities along its route, bringing people together through prayer, learning and service.

The three-day Sammelan brought together spiritual discourse, youth engagement, technology and cultural expression to celebrate the legacy of Swami Chinmayananda and the Chinmaya Movement’s 75-year journey. From dedicated Shishu Vihar and Bala Vihar sessions for children to the immersive Chinmaya Amrit Ganga exhibition, the HoloBot experience and virtual reality showcases of the Mission’s initiatives, the gathering offered diverse ways to engage with Gurudev’s teachings. The celebrations also featured a concert by Grammy Award-winning musician Ricky Kej and The Chinmaya Musical – The Awakening, directed by filmmaker Mani Shankar, presenting Gurudev’s life and vision through music, dance and storytelling.

The three-day programme combined spiritual learning with cultural and experiential engagements. Discourses on the Bhagavad Gita by Pujya Swami Tejomayananda, along with a discourse on the Upanishads and guided meditation led by Pujya Swami Swaroopananda, Global Head of Chinmaya Mission, provided opportunities for participants to engage with Vedantic thought and its relevance to everyday life.

The concluding sessions brought the three-day gathering to a close, with the valedictory programme and Bhakti Sandhya led by Pujya Swami Tejomayananda. The close of the Sammelan marked an important milestone in the Mission’s 75-year journey, bringing together its spiritual, educational, cultural and service-oriented work in a shared celebration of Gurudev’s vision.

On the significance of this landmark milestone and its enduring global impact, Pujya Swami Swaroopananda, Global Head of Chinmaya Mission, said, “It was deeply heartening to see people from across India and around the world come together to celebrate 75 years of the Chinmaya Movement and reconnect with Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda’s vision. The presence of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on the opening day, along with the participation of distinguished leaders such as Dr S. Jaishankar and Stefan Priesner, United Nations, added great significance to this milestone. Their participation reflects the continued relevance of Gurudev’s teachings and the values of Vedanta in today’s world. As the Sammelan concludes and the Chinmaya Amrit Yatra draws to a close, we carry forward a renewed commitment to take this wisdom to more people, particularly the younger generation, and translate it into meaningful action through service and compassion.”

Addressing the gathering, Dr. S. Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister of India, said, “The coming together of so many people from across India and around the world to celebrate 75 years of Chinmaya Mission is, in itself, a powerful reflection of the idea of unity. What brings people together across generations and geographies is a shared belief in something larger than the individual. This is at the heart of non-dualism, which reminds us that existence is indivisible and that our well-being is deeply interconnected. The same principle holds true for nations. In an interconnected world, peace and prosperity cannot be pursued in isolation; they require cooperation, a sense of shared responsibility and a willingness to work towards the common good. The Indian philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, or the world as one family, reflects this understanding.”

The Chinmaya Amrit Ganga exhibition offered participants an immersive journey through the life, vision and legacy of Swami Chinmayananda and the evolution of the Mission over the past 75 years. Designed by scenographer and artist Sumant Jayakrishnan, the exhibition brought together the Mission’s history and work through a curated visual experience. Complementing it, the Pujya Gurudev HoloBot enabled participants to engage with his teachings through technology, while virtual reality experiences showcased the Mission’s flagship initiatives. The HoloBot and AI experience was developed by Avantari, with Bhairav Shankar serving as its CEO and architect.

The Global Sammelan was the culmination of Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav, a year-long commemoration that brought together the Mission’s worldwide community through initiatives including Samashti Gita Chanting, the Samashti Shri Hanuman Chalisa Havan and the Chinmaya Amrit Yatra. Together, these initiatives and the Global Sammelan reflect the continuing relevance of Swami Chinmayananda’s vision and the Mission’s commitment to making Vedantic wisdom accessible to future generations through education, spiritual learning and selfless service.
