The Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections are around the corner, with voting scheduled for September 18, 2026. Ahead of the polls, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has released its manifesto outlining its key promises for students.
The manifesto is divided into four sections: Awas, Bhagidari, Vishwas and Parinaam. The promises cover student accommodation, representation, safety, healthcare, examinations, placements, and skill-oriented education.
Awas
The Awas section focuses on student accommodation and safety in hostels and paying guest (PG) facilities.
- Construction of new hostels across DU colleges
- Dedicated housing cell and helpline
- Separate girls’ hostels in every college
- Safety audits and regulatory compliance for PGs and hostels
Bhagidari
The Bhagidari section focuses on student participation, representation, and support for students from different backgrounds.
- Proactive student representation in AC and EC
- Accessibility and support for PwD/Divyang students
- Equal Opportunity Cells for marginalised students
- Stronger co-curricular and societal participation
Vishwas
The Vishwas section focuses on student safety, grievance redressal, health, and building trust between students and the administration.

- Strengthened ICC and women’s safety measures
- Health and wellbeing infrastructure
- Trust-building between students and administration
Parinaam
The Parinaam section focuses on examinations, results, placements and improving students’ employability.

ABVP’s CANDIDATES FOR DUSU ELECTIONS
ABVP has also announced its four candidates for the key DUSU posts through a post on X.
Yash Dabas has been named the candidate for president, while Ishu Maurya will contest for vice president. Riya Chhawadi will contest for secretary, and Lakshyaraj Singh has been named the candidate for joint secretary.
Dabas, originally from Kanjhawala in Delhi, completed his graduation from Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, University of Delhi. He is an international-level tennis player and has participated in ITF competitions in Spain, Australia and Serbia.
Maurya hails from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, and completed his graduation from Satyawati College, University of Delhi. He has been associated with ABVP since 2021.
Chhawadi is from Modband village in Badarpur, Delhi, and comes from a farming family. She studied at Sri Aurobindo College, University of Delhi, and is an inter-college-level basketball player.
Singh, originally from Churu district in Rajasthan, completed his graduation in Political Science from Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, University of Delhi. An international-level handball player, he has represented India at the Asian Games and World Championship. He has also represented Rajasthan at the National Games and the University of Delhi at the National University Games.
The DUSU elections will be held on September 18, 2026. For day classes, voting will take place from 8:30 am to 1 pm, while students attending evening classes can vote from 3 pm to 7:30 pm.
