Hyderabad: The EducationWorld India School Rankings (EWISR) 2026-27, based on a nationwide survey of 18,000 respondents, have placed several schools from Hyderabad and Secunderabad across different categories. The 20th annual edition of the rankings was released by EducationWorld in association with AZ Research Partners Pvt. Ltd. (AZR), Bengaluru.
The survey covered parents of school-going children, faculty members, educators and counsellors across 34 cities in 22 states. Schools were assessed across 14 parameters of education excellence, with legacy schools evaluated on an additional parameter related to the quality of their alumni.
According to the survey findings, Army Public School, Bolarum, Secunderabad, secured a joint No. 4 position nationally in the Central Government Schools category, alongside Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan, Delhi.
In the Budget Private Schools category, Mukkaram Jah School, Hyderabad, was placed joint No. 2 nationally, while Pragathi Vidyalaya, Hyderabad, was ranked No. 9.
The rankings also included schools from Hyderabad in the newly introduced Ivy League category. NASR School, Khairatabad, was listed in the Ivy League Day Schools category with two stars, while Aga Khan Academy, Hyderabad, was listed with two stars in the Ivy League International Day-cum-Boarding Schools category. The Ivy League category was introduced in 2025 for schools that have consistently featured strongly in earlier rankings across multiple parameters. Schools in this category share a common No. 1 position, with stars used as an additional distinction.
Other Hyderabad schools featured across the 2026-27 rankings. Suchitra Academy, Hyderabad, was ranked No. 8 nationally in the Day Co-educational Schools category. NASR Boys, Hyderabad, was placed No. 5 in the Boys Day Schools category.
In the Vintage Legacy Co-educational Schools category, Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, was ranked No. 6. In the International Schools categories, CHIREC International School, Hyderabad, secured a joint No. 6 position among International Day Schools, while Indus International School, Hyderabad, was ranked joint No. 10 among International Day-cum-Boarding Schools.
The survey evaluated schools on parameters including academic reputation, faculty competence, individual attention to students, leadership and management, curriculum and pedagogy, co-curricular education, sports, community service, parental involvement, teacher welfare and development, value for money, mental and emotional well-being services, and infrastructure. Legacy schools were also assessed on the quality of their alumni.
EducationWorld founder-editor Dilip Thakore said the annual exercise aims to provide comparative information on schools and encourage institutions to examine areas of educational development.
AZ Research Partners founder-director Shubra Mishra said the 2026-27 survey used a structured questionnaire, with respondents given face-to-face, telephonic and online options. According to the organisers, one response was accepted from each selected respondent, while responses suspected of attempting to influence rankings were excluded.
The rankings cover schools under Day, Boarding and International categories, along with Government, Special Needs, Budget Private and Philanthropy school categories. The findings provide parents, educators and other stakeholders with comparative information based on the survey’s stated parameters and respondent base.
