Engineers Of Present Time Have Come Forward With Their Innovative Thinking For Realizing The Dream Of New India : Higher Education Minister Kishor Barman.


Agartala, Tripura, 16th of September, 2026 : Bharat Ratna M. Visvesvaraya was not just an engineer, he was also a thinker, visionary and man of wisdom. He was an architect behind the development of India. He proved that through honesty, dedication, strong will and innovative power a nation could progress. Higher Education Minister Kishor Barman made these remarks after inaugurating a rally organized at the Ujjayanta Palace premises to mark the 59th Engineers Day on Tuesday (15th September, 2026). He graced the event as chief guest.

Addressing the event the Higher Education Minister said, every year September 15 is celebrated as Engineers Day in memory of the revolutionary contribution of Bharat Ratna M. Visvesvaraya. The Minister mentioned that in ancient India during the Indus Valley civilization, the urban planning, drainage system, Harappa and Mohenjodaro’s sculpture and architecture had shown a direction to the entire world. Old books and documents of India also have reference about the engineering and planning feat of India.

The Higher Education Minister said in the post-independence era also our engineers have made glorious marks of their innovative power in the field of road, railways, dam construction and space research. But we should not stop here. We have to continue moving ahead and live upto the clarion call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for building Viksit Bharat by 2047. He said, engineers are the prime architects of nation building. We cannot think of building Shrestha Bharat without their contribution and techniques. We have to move forward for building new and Shrestha Bharat by the year 2047 keeping unwavering faith in our engineers. He said that the engineers of present time have come forward with their innovative thinking for realizing the dream of Digital India, Make in India, Start-up India. They have to play a pioneering role in delivering various benefits to the last person of society. Not only that, he urged all to come forward to build India as the best country in the world.

Addressing on the occasion, the Chairman of FIl engineer Paramananda Banerjee termed Bharat Ratna Visvesvaraya as a symbol of honesty and dedication. Welcome address was delivered by joint secretary of PWD Rajib Paul. Anup Kumar Das, chief engineer of PWD was also present there. After the inaugural function, a colourful rally was taken out from the premises of Ujjayanta Palace. The rally, after passing through major streets of the city, ended at the Ujjayanta Palace compound again.

The rally was attended by the Higher Education Minister, other dignitaries, students and faculty members from Women TIT, TIT (Narsingarh), TIT-TTAADC. This event was organized jointly by the PWD, The Institution of Engineers, Tripura State Centre and other associated oganisations.
