On that note, Karthik and I, Danyal, sign off. It’s been a pleasure bringing this game to you, one that ended up being quite close. Stick around for KK’s report, but that’s all from us. Congratulations to India, and commiserations to Pakistan! See you all again very soon.
Ruchit: “India simply played superior cricket as a team. Pakistan has 4 may be good contributions . India had 7 good contributions.”
Yahya: “Spare a thought for Nawaz – he kept Pak alive until the 19/20th over and made the match watch worthy for fans.”
There are no handshakes as India peel off to celebrate with their fans, while Pakistan will have to be content with silver.
Dube to Hasan Nawaz, OUT, strikes off the final ball! India win the gold medal! Slower bouncer sees Nawaz nick off, and India defend what they won in Hangzhou. They were always ahead in the game, even if Pakistan gave them a few nervier moments than India expected. But they were the better side, and always the side that was ahead in this game. And they are ahead as the game draws to a close. India clinch their seventh consecutive T20I win over Pakistan, and India’s men do what their women did earlier, win a gold medal in the cricket.
