Jammu : The Indian Institute of Management Jammu in collaboration with Thalassemia Welfare Society, Jammu, and Govt. Medical College Jammu, organized a Blood Donation Camp at its Jagti Campus on19th Sept 2026. This initiative showcased IIM Jammu’s steadfast commitment to community service and social responsibility. The camp drew enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and staff, reaffirming the institute’s ethos of fostering a culture of empathy and altruism. Around 60 donors from IIM Jammu fraternity participated in the blood donation drive.
The camp, conducted with the support of Thalassemia Welfare Society and medical professionals from Govt. Medical College Jammu, ensured that all protocols and safety measures were meticulously followed. It aimed to highlight the critical role of blood donation in saving lives and addressing medical emergencies, thereby instilling a sense of civic duty among the participants. The blood donation drive was inaugurated by Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu in the presence of Er. Sudhir Sethi, President of J&K Thalassemia Welfare Society, Jammu
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Prof. Nitin Upadhyay, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu; Prof. Brig. (Retd.) Neeraj Soni, Chairperson, Student Affairs; Er. Sudhir Sethi, President, J&K Thalassemia Welfare Society, Jammu; and officials of IIM Jammu.
Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, commended the participants for their wholehearted involvement in the blood donation drive. He noted that beyond academic excellence, IIM Jammu places strong emphasis on cultivating socially responsible leaders. He remarked that the enthusiastic turnout reflects the Institute’s deep-rooted values of empathy and service. Initiatives like these, he added, not only save lives but also reinforce the spirit of community and collective responsibility that IIM Jammu stands for.
Er. Sudhir Sethi, President, J&K Thalassemia Welfare Society, Jammu, emphasized the importance of regular blood donation camps to meet the growing transfusion needs of Thalassemia patients. He urged the community to support Thalassemia children and highlighted the importance of genetic counselling and appropriate antenatal advice in preventing the birth of children affected by the disorder.
The camp concluded on a high note, with a significant number of units of blood collected, which will benefit patients in need across the region, particularly those battling conditions like thalassemia and other life-threatening illnesses. Participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to this life-saving initiative, reinforcing IIM Jammu’s mission to create meaningful societal impact.
The event was coordinated by the Student Affairs Office at IIM Jammu, which played a pivotal role in ensuring seamless organization and execution. This initiative reflects IIM Jammu’s dedication to promoting inclusivity, social responsibility, and sustainable practices, further cementing its position as a leading socially responsible institution.
