Indian Naval Ship Sahyadri arrived at Vladivostok, Russia on 10 October 2026. The warship will participate in the bilateral Exercise INDRA-2026 between the Indian Navy and the Russian Federation Navy (RUFN) to be held from 13 to 18 October 2026. This exercise will provide an opportunity for the navies of the two countries to interact at professional and operational levels, thereby enhancing maritime cooperation and mutual interoperability.
INS Sahyadri’s participation is in line with the Government of India’s vision of OCEAN (Mutual and Inclusive Progress for Security and Development in the Region). It further strengthens the long-standing defense and maritime partnership between India and Russia. This deployment also provides an opportunity to build on the momentum generated during the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit held on 4 and 5 December 2025.
Exercise Indra-2026 will consist of various activities during the harbor phase, followed by coordinated operational events at sea. The exercise will include various professional discussions and maritime activities aimed at enhancing mutual understanding, operational coordination, and interoperability between the participating navies.
Apart from operational activities, social and cultural exchanges will provide opportunities for personnel of both navies to interact and further enhance mutual cordiality and people-to-people relations.
