MAHE, Google India Partner to Explore AI in Healthcare Research & Medical Education

Under the collaboration, MAHE will work towards establishing a Google-powered AI Centre of Excellence to explore AI-enabled healthcare research using Gemini and other Google tools.

Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), an Institution of Eminence Deemed to be University, has partnered with Google India to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare, medical education, and academic activities.

As part of the collaboration, MAHE and Google India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support the adoption of AI across the University, with a particular focus on healthcare and medical education.

The partnership seeks to enable the University to leverage Google’s expertise, technologies, and AI capabilities to develop and implement solutions across key areas, including healthcare research and academics.

Under the collaboration, MAHE will work towards establishing a Google-powered AI Centre of Excellence to explore AI-enabled healthcare research using Gemini and other Google tools.

The proposed centre is also expected to support research activities and develop academic collaborations while strengthening AI-based teaching and learning.

The initiative also seeks to provide opportunities for faculty members and students to work with emerging AI technologies and explore their applications in healthcare and medical education

The latest partnership forms part of MAHE’s MAGIC (MAHE Agentic Intelligence Console) initiative, through which the University is advancing its vision of becoming a fully-fledged AI-agentic university.

Speaking about the collaboration, Dr. K. Sharath Rao, Vice Chancellor, MAHE, said, “Through MAGIC, MAHE is building an ecosystem that integrates agentic AI into our academic and institutional processes. Our partnership with Google India will bring global expertise and advanced AI capabilities to this effort, with a particular focus on healthcare and medical education.”

Under this initiative, MAHE is engaging with global technology organisations to strengthen AI-led innovation, research, education, and institutional applications.

Earlier in May, MAHE partnered with OpenAI to integrate artificial intelligence tools across teaching, research, and academic administration.

The collaboration is expected to introduce AI-powered resources into academic programs with the stated objective of enhancing learning outcomes and accelerating research productivity.
