Batter Mandeep Singh is set to return to Tripura ahead of India’s 2026-27 domestic season. Mandeep had captained Tripura after switching over from Punjab in the 2024-25 season, but announced his departure from the team before the 2025-26 season.
Mandeep played six matches in the Ranji Trophy, six games in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and seven matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Tripura in 2024-25. He did not play the 2025-26 domestic season.
In his previous Ranji Trophy stint, Mandeep scored an unbeaten 124 and made five half-centuries. He made three fifties in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, with a top score of 94 against Bengal, and he scored two half-centuries in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20s.
Mandeep had made the switch to Tripura after 15 seasons with Punjab. He had captained Punjab to the Syed Mushtaq Ali title in his final season with them, ending a 30-year trophy drought.
Tripura have also appointed former batter and umpire Satrajit Lahiri as their new head coach.
Lahiri, who won the Deodhar Trophy as a player in 1996-97, is a Level C-qualified coach of the BCCI and a Level 3-qualified coach of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
