PAK vs SL: Sri Lanka Cricket Confirms Their 15 Player Squad, For Upcoming T20I Series Against Pakistan


Sri Lanka Cricket has confirmed their squad of 15 players for their upcoming three match T20I series against Pakistan. The series starts from the 9th of October, 2026. Kusal Mendis returns to lead the squad, replacing Charith Asalanka. The last T20I series between Sri Lanka and Pakistan ended in a draw.

Sri Lanka Cricket has confirmed their squad which consists of 15 players for their upcoming three match T20I series against Pakistan. This official announcement by SLC was made on the 2nd of October, 2026. The T20I series between Sri Lanka and Pakistan is all set to kick off on the 9th of October, 2026 and will end on the 13th of October, 2026. The matches will be held at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Kusal Mendis will lead the Lankan side in the series.

Kusal Mendis returns to the squad for the series as the captain of the side, after he missed out on the previous tour against England due to his injury. The inclusion of Mendis has led to the exclusion of former white ball captain Charith Asalanka. Asalanka took the captaincy charges of the squad in the England tour as Mendis was absent then, but now he has been left out of the 15 player squad. Experienced pacer Dushmantha Chameera has been included in the squad but his availability is under doubt as his game time has been subjected to strict fitness clearances.

While on the other hand, Pathum Nissanka and Wanindu Hasaranga have been totally ruled out of the T20I series due to their individual injury issues. The 15 player squad for the tour includes several players who are currently playing in the ongoing 2026 Asian Games tournament and will immediately set out for Pakistan after the tournament ends on the 3rd of October, 2026. The players are Sahan Arachchige, Sineth Jayawardena, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, Binura Fernando and Nuwan Thushara.

Last T20I series between these countries

The last T20I series that was played between Sri Lanka and Pakistan ended in a 1-1 draw. The series was played this year, in the month of January. The series was played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Sri Lanka. The series was also a three match T20I series in which Pakistan won the first match by 6 wickets and Sri Lanka won the third match by 14 runs, while the second match was abandoned due to bad weather.
