Vasant Valley School in Delhi has been named the ‘Best Day School of India’ and awarded a 5-star rating in the EducationWorld India School Rankings (EWISR) 2026–27. The school has also received the ‘Best of the Best – Ivy League Award’, recognising its academic standards and focus on students’ overall development.
Affiliated with the India Today Group, the school’s latest recognition adds to its national standing. The EducationWorld rankings assess schools across the country on several educational criteria, including academic quality.
However, for the school’s leadership, recognition is not the primary goal. Principal Sharmila Bakshi told India Today that the focus remains on children and the quality of education they receive.
AWARDS ARE NOT THE GOAL, SAYS PRINCIPAL
“Our goal isn’t awards, but providing the best education to children,” Bakshi said, reflecting on the achievement.
She said receiving an award was gratifying but stressed that educators should not make accolades their main objective. The school team, she explained, works towards providing quality education, creating an environment that supports student development and striving for excellence every day.
Bakshi also expressed gratitude to EducationWorld, saying the recognition was heartening and acknowledged the work being done by the institution.
She added that every award was special and could serve as an inspiration for students.
WHY EVERY AWARD MATTERS TO STUDENTS
Vijay Trivedi, Head of Senior School, said each award had its own significance. He described the recognition as a moment of joy for students, the school leadership and the principal, who work together towards excellence.
Trivedi said awards should not be viewed only as symbols of past achievements. They can also encourage schools to aim higher and continue improving.
When students see their school and principal recognised at the national level, he said, they share in that pride. Such recognition can strengthen their connection with the institution and motivate them to perform better.
A RECOGNITION AND A RESPONSIBILITY
The ‘Best Day School of India’ title and 5-star rating recognise Vasant Valley School’s academic achievements and its emphasis on holistic student development.
For the school management, the achievement also brings greater responsibility to improve educational standards further. Bakshi’s message underlines that education must focus on giving children better opportunities and preparing them for the future.
Trivedi similarly highlighted how recognition can encourage both teachers and students to keep progressing. The school’s latest awards, therefore, mark not just an achievement but also an opportunity to build on its efforts in education.
