ALIGARH, October 15: Prof. Hamid Ashraf of the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), participated as a panellist at The Week Metabolic Health Summit 2026 in Lucknow and delivered an invited lecture at the 25th Annual Conference of the Uttar Pradesh Diabetes Association (UPDACON 2026).
At the Metabolic Health Summit, Prof. Ashraf joined experts in discussing the growing burden of diabetes, obesity and related metabolic disorders in India. The deliberations highlighted the need for preventive healthcare, early screening, public awareness and coordinated efforts involving healthcare professionals, policymakers and public health systems.
At UPDACON 2026, which marked the association’s Silver Jubilee, he delivered an invited lecture titled “Diabetes and Thyroid Dysfunction: Two Diseases, One Metabolic Connection”. He discussed the clinical links between the two conditions, their shared metabolic pathways and implications for diagnosis and treatment, emphasising the importance of an integrated approach to endocrine care.
