Aaryavir Sehwag, son of legendary India opener Virender Sehwag, has made experts and fans across the world of cricket take note with a stunning knock of 173 in the ongoing Vinoo Mankad Trophy, India’s premier under-19 one-day tournament. Playing for Delhi U19 against Chandigarh U19, Aaryavir opened the batting and smashed 19 boundaries and eight sixes, slamming 173 off only 143 balls. Aaryavir recently made a positive impression on his India U19 debut, and this knock highlights why he could be a star of the future.

The 18-year-old has been one of the only shining lights for Delhi U19 in the ongoing Vinoo Mankad Trophy, with the team stuck in last position in Group E.
Aaryavir made his debut for India U19 in a recent three-game youth one-day series, where he made a respectable impression, scoring 109 runs in three games, with a best score of 47.
Being the son of Virender Sehwag – one of India’s greatest ever openers – brings a significant amount of scrutiny with it. However, Aaryavir has showcased on multiple occasions why he is a highly-regarded talent.
In a chat with NDTV earlier, Virender Sehwag had revealed a priceless piece of advice that he had lent to his son.
“I am very proud of Aaryavir Sehwag. I gave him advice that, you know, pressure is there but go out there and play freely. Express yourself, don’t worry that you have to score big runs. If you express yourself, the big runs will automatically come. But if you think about big runs, then I don’t think the big runs will come,” Sehwag had said.
Aaryavir is not the only son of a legendary cricketer who has made waves in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy. Anvay Dravid, son of Rahul Dravid, has been in fine form for Karnataka U19, scoring an explosive century, as well as a knock of 85 off 41.
