The date and venue for the IPL 2027 mini-auction, which will precede the 20th season of the Indian Premier League, have reportedly been fixed, with Goa expected to host the event on December 16. According to internal sources, the BCCI rather has informed the franchises about their initial plan instead of putting out an official announcement. The franchises are still waiting for written confirmation, though.

“The IPL 2026 Player Auction will take place on December 16, 2026 at ITC Grand Goa and auction briefing will be held on December 15, 2026,” the BCCI WhatsApp note read.

It has been explained that the message is meant only to help teams with logistics and travel bookings to Goa. Whether the date might change later is not clear, although a formal communication is expected to be sent to the owners and CEOs in due course.

“This year, after hosting the IPL auction in three foreign locations, Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Abu Dhabi last year, we are going to host it in Goa in the month of December,” Saikia told ANI.

Interestingly, India are due to play Sri Lanka in an ODI in Bengaluru on the same day.

It has been reported that the 2027 edition would be played between March 14 and May 30. After the BCCI AGM last week, Devajit Saikia told the media that the season would begin at the end of March, although the official dates have not been confirmed yet.
