India are one win away from completing a full whitewash over Afghanistan in 2026, and the third T20I at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Thursday offers them that chance
Having already swept Afghanistan 3-0 in the ODI series back in June, India are firmly on course to repeat the feat in the shortest format as well. The second T20I made that very clear: Sanju Samson blasted 57 off just 22 balls to set the tone, Abhishek Sharma continued his consistent run at the top, and Ishan Kishan finished the job with an unbeaten 38.

The bowling unit backed it up too. Nitish Kumar Reddy was the pick with three wickets for 24 runs, while Arshdeep Singh chipped in with two to wrap things up comfortably. Afghanistan put up some fight through Ibrahim Zadran’s 37 and lower-order resistance from Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi, but it wasn’t nearly enough to keep the result in doubt.
Varun Chakravarthy’s side strain, which kept him out of the first match, is still keeping him sidelined for Thursday as well. That means India will need to reshuffle the bowling combination, similar to how Ravi Bishnoi was brought in for the second game. With the Asian Games on the horizon, this final T20I is also an opportunity to give more fringe players some valuable game time.
