NSW EdTech heads to India as Study NSW opens trade mission

by BollywoodNewsAndMovie

NSW is taking its EdTech pitch to India, with Study NSW opening expressions of interest for a trade mission designed to connect export-ready education technology companies with one of the world’s biggest and fastest-growing education markets.

The NSW Going Global Trade Mission: EdTech to India will run from 23 to 27 November 2026, with the delegation travelling to Delhi and Bengaluru as part of the Team Australia presence at DIDAC India.

And there is plenty of market to chase.

India’s education system spans a vast K-12 sector, a rapidly expanding higher education system, vocational education and skills development, and a growing appetite for technology that can support teaching, learning and workforce development.

For NSW EdTech companies, the challenge is less about whether a market exists and more about understanding which part of that market is worth pursuing.

The mission is intended to help with exactly that, providing participating businesses with market intelligence, regulatory guidance, business matching and introductions to potential customers, partners, investors and decision-makers.

The delegation will have a presence within the Australia Pavilion at DIDAC India 2026, Asia’s major exhibition and conference focused on education resources, technology and learning solutions.

The program also includes in-market engagement and networking, support from Investment NSW’s Director International Education India, and access to discounted participation in additional DIDAC India activities.

There is a particularly Australian flavour to the offer, with participants also eligible for 50 per cent discounted participation in EduGrowth’s Innovation Alley at AIEC 2026 in Sydney.

The mission is aimed at companies with commercially ready EdTech products and services, rather than businesses still working out what they might sell overseas.

Eligible businesses can operate across K-12, higher education, vocational education and skills training, student engagement technology, and areas including artificial intelligence, quantum technologies and upskilling.

Applicants will need to demonstrate a NSW footprint, an ability to scale, international experience or existing offshore activity, and the capacity to pursue commercial opportunities in India.

The program is being delivered by Study NSW in partnership with EduGrowth and Austrade, as part of the Team Australia presence at DIDAC India. Austrade and Study NSW will assess applications, with priority given to businesses that align closely with the mission objectives and are new to the Indian market.

Australia’s education relationship with India is already substantial, but the opportunity extends well beyond student recruitment. EdTech, skills, digital learning and workforce development are increasingly part of the broader education relationship, giving Australian companies another way to engage with the Indian market.

Whether a trade mission can turn introductions into contracts is, of course, where the rubber meets the road. The real value will ultimately be measured by what happens after the delegation flies home.

For NSW companies with the product, capability and appetite to stay in the market, however, five days in India could be a useful place to start.

Expressions of interest close 30 September 2026. A company representative must attend in person for participation in the mission.

The mission does not cover airfares, accommodation, visas, travel insurance, meals, ground transport or a range of other participation and freight costs.
