Patna, September 26, 2026: Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna (CIMP) held its 15th Convocation today at the CIMP Auditorium, celebrating the academic achievements and accomplishments of its graduating students.
The convocation was graced by Hon’ble Shri Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, Chairperson, Law Commission of India and former Judge, Supreme Court of India, as the Chief Guest. Prof. (Dr.) Rana Singh, Director, CIMP, and Dr. Devi Prasad Mishra, Director, Development Management Institute, Patna, were also present on the occasion.
The ceremony commenced with the academic procession, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and presentation of a sapling to the Chief Guest, symbolizing CIMP’s commitment to knowledge, growth and environmental responsibility.
A message from Hon’ble Shri Samrat Choudhary, Chief Minister of Bihar and Chairman, Board of Governors, CIMP, was read out during the ceremony. The Chief Minister congratulated CIMP on its journey since its inception in 2008 and appreciated its emergence as a centre of excellence in management education with national and international linkages. He emphasized the role of management education in nation building and urged the graduating students to utilize their knowledge and skills for the development of Bihar and the country.
CIMP Highlights Academic and Institutional Achievements
Presenting the Director’s Report, Prof. (Dr.) Rana Singh outlined the institute’s academic, research, entrepreneurship and global engagement initiatives.
CIMP’s flagship PGDM programme is NBA accredited and recognized as equivalent to an MBA by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The institute has also applied for eligibility for AACSB accreditation.
The institute has strengthened its academic portfolio by introducing a specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Analytics, incorporating areas such as generative AI, data automation and responsible use of emerging technologies.
The Director also highlighted the State Government of Bihar’s scholarship support, under which 80–90 percent of the fees of the PGDM batch have been waived through scholarships.
Under the NITI Aayog State Support Mission, CIMP has been designated as a Lead Knowledge Institution, supporting policy research and evidence-based recommendations for the Planning and Development Department, with a focus on the broader vision of Viksit Bihar 2037.
Entrepreneurship, Research and Social Impact
CIMP’s entrepreneurship ecosystem, anchored by CIMP Business Incubation Foundation (CIMP-BIF) and B-HUB Maurya Lok, has supported 374 cumulative startups since January 2023.
The institute has filed 31 patents, primarily in the field of Artificial Intelligence. It has also conducted 24 Management Development Programmes (MDPs) for 2,229 participants from departments including MSME, Health and State Planning.
Further, CIMP completed 67 social impact assessment projects and eight consultancy projects, covering areas such as climate-resilient agriculture and public policy evaluation.
During the academic year, the institute signed 23 MoUs, including 13 educational and 10 industrial collaborations, with international academic partners including the University of Bridgeport and Georgia State University.
Diploma Conferment and Student Recognition
The graduating students were formally conferred their diplomas by the Director on behalf of the Board of Governors. The occasion also recognized outstanding academic and all-round performance.
Raj Laxmi received the Gold Medal for Best Scholastic Performance, while Anish Ahsan received the Gold Medal for Best All-Round Performance.
The Meritorious Girl Student Scholarship was awarded to Raj Laxmi (First Prize), Shikha Singh (Second Prize), and Anjali Sinha (Third Prize).
The PGDM-IEV programme, supported by the Department of Industries, Government of Bihar, was also part of the graduating cohort.
Faculty and Staff Excellence Awards
The convocation also recognized outstanding contributions by faculty and staff members.
Dr. Rajasshrie Pillai, Professor and Assistant Dean, received the Best Researcher Award for her research contributions, including seven Scopus-indexed publications during 2025–26 and her inclusion in the Stanford University Top 2% Scientists list.
Prof. Ranjit Tiwari, Associate Professor, received the Best Teacher Award for his contribution to teaching, quality assurance and accreditation initiatives, including IQAC, NBA and AACSB-related work.
Mr. Vivek Kashyap, Senior Administrative Officer, was conferred the Best Officer Award for his efficiency and contribution to institutional development.
The Best Staff Member Award was jointly presented to Mr. Sumit Kumar, Senior Assistant, and Mr. Vidya Sagar Ram, Office Assistant, in recognition of their teamwork and willingness to shoulder additional responsibilities.
Chief Guest Calls Upon Graduates to Lead with Purpose and Responsibility
Delivering the convocation address, Hon’ble Justice Dinesh Maheshwari urged the graduating students to integrate professional excellence with ethical responsibility and constitutional values.
He outlined the three Ps—Purpose, Prudence and Perseverance—as important principles for future managers and leaders. He emphasized that leadership should extend beyond financial success to the welfare of people and institutions, while growth should be guided by prudence and long-term stewardship.
Drawing on the example of the Wright Brothers and Professor Langley, Justice Maheshwari highlighted the importance of learning from failure and treating setbacks as information for improvement.
Using the analogy of an orchestra, he emphasized that individual excellence must be complemented by discipline, coordination and harmony to create meaningful collective outcomes. He connected this idea with the constitutional principle of fraternity, stressing the importance of unity amidst diversity.
He further urged the graduates to develop the habit of “pausing” before making important decisions, allowing their conscience to distinguish between what is merely convenient and what is truly right.
Emphasizing the relationship between rights and duties, Justice Maheshwari called upon the graduates to move beyond a consciousness of rights towards a stronger consciousness of their duties towards society and the nation.
Graduates Take Pledge
The graduating students took the pledge administered by Prof. Santosh Kumar, committing themselves to ethical conduct, responsible citizenship, professional excellence, healthy practices, and service to the nation while guarding against narrow loyalties and sectarian prejudices.
The ceremony concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Prof. Ranjit Tiwari, followed by the singing of the Bihar Geet and a group photo session.
The 15th Convocation marked another significant milestone in CIMP’s continuing journey towards academic excellence, research, entrepreneurship, social impact and global engagement.
