D2L, a global leader in learning technology, brought together higher education leaders, educators, and innovators from across India at the D2L Connection: New Delhi event. Discussion explored the changing higher education landscape, role of technology in shaping more engaging, flexible and future-ready learning experiences, ensuring students are job-ready, supporting faculty, demonstrating quality, and strengthening the global competitiveness of institutions.
Held on September 24 at the Shangri-La Eros New Delhi, the event brought together 100+ attendees across the higher education ecosystem to exchange perspectives on artificial intelligence, digital transformation, online and blended learning, accreditation readiness, learner engagement and institutional competitiveness.
It also included sessions highlighting how institutions are using technology like D2L Brightspace to support their academic and strategic priorities across campus and online learning environments. Of particular interest was how institutions are moving beyond technology adoption towards building connected learning ecosystems that respond to evolving learner needs, empower educators, and support stronger academic and institutional outcomes.
Artificial intelligence and digital transformation emerged as key areas of discussion, with academic and technology leaders exploring how institutions can move from experimentation to practical and responsible applications of AI. Conversations focused on the importance of preparing faculty, supporting critical thinking, strengthening assessment practices and helping students develop the adaptability and skills required for a changing world.
Accreditation readiness was another important theme, with leaders discussing how institutions can move beyond periodic evidence collection and embed continuous quality improvement into everyday teaching and learning practices. Digital learning environments can help institutions connect curriculum delivery, assessment, learner engagement and outcomes, while improving visibility and supporting more informed institutional decision-making.
The event also examined the continued growth of online and blended learning in India and how institutions are using technology to scale learning, support faculty and create more consistent and engaging experiences for learners across different academic models.
One of the key highlights of the event was the Learner Experience Session, where a student shared firsthand how D2L Brightspace supported their higher education journey. It brought the learner perspective to the center of the conversation and reinforced the importance of measuring digital transformation by its impact on learner engagement, confidence, progress, and success.
