KIIT University student-athletes have delivered an outstanding performance at the 20th Asian Games, Aichi-Nagoya 2026, contributing 19 of India’s 24 athletics medals won so far at the Games. The KIIT contingent has secured 1 Gold, 7 Silver and 11 Bronze medals, taking its overall Asian Games medal tally to 19.
A total of 54 student-athletes from KIIT University are representing India at the Asian Games, with 45 participating in athletics. India’s athletics contingent has won 24 medals — 1 Gold, 9 Silver and 14 Bronze — with KIIT athletes accounting for 19 medals, comprising 1 Gold, 7 Silver and 11 Bronze.
The most significant achievement came in the Women’s 4x400m Relay, where all four athletes in India’s final team are KIIT University student-athletes. Kiran Pahal, Poovamma Machettira, Prachi Choudhary and Vithya Ramraj combined to win the Gold Medal in a time of 3:29.69, creating a memorable achievement for KIIT and Indian athletics.
KIIT athletes also made a substantial contribution to India’s relay performances in the other events. In the Men’s 4x400m Relay, India’s team comprised Dharmever Choudhary, Jay Kumar, Vishal Thennarasu Kayalvizhi and Manu Thennarasu. Dharmever Choudhary, Jay Kumar and Vishal Thennarasu Kayalvizhi are KIIT University student-athletes, and the Indian team won the Bronze Medal with a timing of 3:01.61.
In the 4x100m Mixed Relay, India was represented by Animesh Kujur, Harita Bhadra, Gurindervir Singh and Sneha. Animesh Kujur, Harita Bhadra and Gurindervir Singh are from KIIT University, and the Indian team secured the Bronze Medal with a timing of 41.06 seconds. With this historic medal, Animesh Kujur became the first athlete from Odisha to win a medal at the 20th Asian Games, Aichi-Nagoya 2026, marking a proud moment for Odisha and adding another significant milestone to KIIT University’s contribution to Indian athletics.
