New Zealand news – Mark Chapman and Zak Foulkes to miss India T20I series with injuries

Chapman has a left-hamstring tear, which he picked up at the European T20 Premier League last month and still hasn’t recovered from. Foulkes injured his right hip flexor during a recent Canterbury training session. “His [Foulkes’] return to play timeline is still to be determined,” New Zealand Cricket said in a statement, adding that Chapman “is on track to be available for the ODIs against India” that follow the T20Is.

“I’m gutted for Mark and Zak and I wish them both a smooth recovery,” Rob Walter, the head coach, said. “We’re fortunate to be able to lean on the expertise of Josh and Blair. I know they’re both very excited to be involved in what’s shaping up to be an epic T20 series.”
New Zealand had earlier lost the services of Rachin Ravindra for the series after he suffered a freak shoulder injury when he landed awkwardly on the safety mat while attempting a catch during a promo shoot. On September 23, NZC said Ravindra would need around six weeks to recover and, like Chapman, was expected to be available for the ODI series.

Adam Milne is in line to play his first T20I in more than a year. He is part of a strong group of fast bowlers alongside Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Jacob Duffy and Tickner, as well as allrounders Nathan Smith and Clarkson.

The five T20Is will be played from October 22 to November 1, with the five ODIs to follow from November 4 to 15. The two teams will then play a two-Test series.
