Just how good has Virat Kohli been at Guwahati?
After a blistering century at the Green Park Stadium in the first ODI, Virat Kohli now marches to the Northeast with Team India for the 2nd ODI. His association with Guwahati stretches back to a much younger, less garlanded version of himself.
But the numbers he has built there over the years remain some of the most eye-catching at any single Indian venue.
Not satisfied with wooing just one stadium, Kohli has played ODIs in Guwahati at two venues. The old Nehru Stadium and its successor, Barsapara Cricket Stadium, have hosted him in both ODI and T20I formats.

He has not featured in an IPL match at the venue, with Barsapara serving as the Rajasthan Royals’ second home since 2023 rather than a regular fixture for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
With India returning to Guwahati for the second ODI against West Indies on Wednesday, September 30, Kohli arrives with a record that has made the city something of a personal fortress across his career.

How has Virat Kohli performed in ODIs at Guwahati?
Kohli’s Guwahati story in ODIs began at the old Nehru Stadium in November 2010, where he scored 105 off 104 balls against New Zealand, winning Player of the Match in what turned out to be the ground’s final ODI. He was just 22 at the time, not yet the charismatic veteran and skipper that younger fans know him as.

But by the time the second century arrived in 2018, Kohli had taken the mantle of captaincy for all formats. And it was at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, the venue that replaced Nehru Stadium as Assam’s primary ground, that he stuck his second ton in Assam. He scored an unbeaten 140 off 107 balls against the Windies while chasing 323, finishing the match quickly.
He followed it with 113 off 87 balls against Sri Lanka in January 2023, also in a successful chase. Across all three innings, Kohli has converted every Guwahati ODI appearance into a century.

How has Virat Kohli performed in the IPL at Guwahati?
Kohli has not played an IPL match at any Guwahati venue. Barsapara Cricket Stadium has hosted IPL cricket only since 2023, serving as Rajasthan Royals’ second home ground, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru have not been scheduled to play there during that stretch.

How has Virat Kohli performed in T20Is at Guwahati?
Kohli’s only T20I appearance at Barsapara came against South Africa in October 2022, where he scored 49 as India posted 237 for 3, a total that remains the highest T20I innings at the venue. India went on to win the match by 16 runs.
It is the one format at Guwahati where Kohli has fallen short of a fifty, though his contribution still played a part in one of the ground’s most complete team batting performances in this format.
