Drishyam: The Drishyam franchise, starring Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar, began in 2015 with the Hindi remake of the Malayalam thriller. The second instalment arrived in 2022, continuing Vijay’s efforts to protect his family. Drishyam 3 is set to conclude the Hindi franchise, bringing the story to its third and final chapter.

1920 horror series: The 1920 horror franchise began in 2008 with Rajneesh Duggal and Adah Sharma in the lead roles. The cast changed with each instalment, with 1920: The Evil Returns featuring Aftab Shivdasani and Tia Bajpai, while 1920 London starred Sharman Joshi and Meera Chopra. Despite the cast changes, all three films explore supernatural horror.

Fukrey: The Fukrey franchise began in 2013 with the comedy following four friends played by Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Ali Fazal and Manjot Singh. Fukrey Returns released in 2017, followed by Fukrey 3 in 2023. The third film continued the gang’s misadventures with the same core characters.

Dabangg: The Dabangg franchise began in 2010 with Salman Khan playing the fearless cop Chulbul Pandey, alongside Sonakshi Sinha as Rajjo. Dabangg 2 followed in 2012, continuing Chulbul’s story, while Dabangg 3 arrived in 2019 as a prequel exploring his early years and his romance with Rajjo.

Ek Tha Tiger: The Tiger franchise began with Ek Tha Tiger in 2012, starring Salman Khan as RAW agent Tiger and Katrina Kaif as ISI agent Zoya. Tiger Zinda Hai followed in 2017, continuing their story, while Tiger 3 arrived in 2023. The three films follow Tiger and Zoya through their missions, relationship and life as spies.

Dhoom: The Dhoom franchise began in 2004 with Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra playing police officers Jai Dixit and Ali, as they took on different thieves in each instalment. Dhoom 2 followed in 2006 with Hrithik Roshan as the antagonist, while Dhoom 3 arrived in 2013 with Aamir Khan in a dual role.

Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster: The franchise began in 2011 with Jimmy Sheirgill, Mahie Gill and Randeep Hooda in the lead roles. The story continued with Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster Returns in 2013 and Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster 3 in 2018. The third film featured Sanjay Dutt alongside Jimmy Sheirgill and Mahie Gill.

Sarkar: The Sarkar franchise began in 2005 with Amitabh Bachchan playing the powerful Subhash Nagre, inspired by The Godfather. The story continued with Sarkar Raj in 2008, which brought back Amitabh Bachchan along with Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Sarkar 3 released in 2017, with Amitabh reprising his role alongside Yami Gautam, Manoj Bajpayee and Amit Sadh.

Krrish: The Krrish franchise began with Koi… Mil Gaya in 2003, with Hrithik Roshan playing Rohit Mehra and Preity Zinta as Nisha. The story continued with Krrish in 2006, introducing Priyanka Chopra Jonas as Priya, followed by Krrish 3 in 2013. Hrithik reprised his superhero role across the trilogy.

Race: The Race franchise began in 2008 with Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif and Anil Kapoor in key roles. Race 2 followed in 2013 with Saif, Anil and new additions including John Abraham, Deepika Padukone and Jacqueline Fernandez. Race 3 arrived in 2018, with Salman Khan leading a largely new cast alongside Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Jacqueline Fernandez.

Murder: The Murder franchise began in 2004 with Emraan Hashmi, Mallika Sherawat and Ashmit Patel in the lead roles. Murder 2 followed in 2011, starring Emraan Hashmi and Jacqueline Fernandez, while Murder 3 arrived in 2013 with Randeep Hooda, Aditi Rao Hydari and Sara Loren. Each instalment featured a different story and cast.
