Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, interacted with students at Mizoram University on Monday during his two-day visit to Mizoram. He also met students from Goa and Chandigarh, who were visiting the North Eastern States under the Ashtalakshmi Darshan programme of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, and discussed their experiences and perspectives.
Addressing the students, Shri Scindia highlighted the rich cultural heritage, traditions, and development potential of the North Eastern region. He said that such exchanges help the youth better understand the North Eastern region of the country, and strengthen cultural ties, mutual understanding, and national unity.
Inspired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of developing all eight states of the North Eastern Region as the Ashtalakshmi of the nation, the programme provides an opportunity to students from across the country to experience firsthand the cultural diversity and development opportunities of the region.
Over 590 students have participated in the Ashtalakshmi Darshan programme in the last year, establishing strong links between the North Eastern states and the rest of the country.
Shri Scindia said that this initiative is in line with the vision of Developed India 2047, which encourages youth participation, reflects India’s diversity and strengthens the role of the North Eastern Region in the country’s development journey.
The dialogue reaffirmed the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region’s commitment to fostering youth engagement, encouraging cultural exchanges, and strengthening people-to-people ties, while inspiring young talent to contribute to a more connected and developed India.
