Ranji Trophy – Suryansh Shedge, Angkrish Raghuvanshi set to play Mumbai’s second-round fixture

by BollywoodNewsAndMovie

A depleted Mumbai side has received a shot in the arm with allrounder Suryansh Shedge set to play in the second round of the Ranji Trophy. The selectors have also brought Angkrish Raghuvanshi into the squad after he scored two double-centuries in the Under-23 CK Nayudu Trophy.
Mumbai were forced to bring in reinforcements after they lost their new vice-captain Ayush Mhatre to another hamstring injury in the opening game and because of the departure of Yashasvi Jaiswal for India A duty in New Zealand. Mumbai are also without the experienced Shardul Thakur for at least the second round because of an injury to his right middle finger.
Shedge comes into the squad after playing the India A one-dayers against Australia A in Puducherry. He finished the series with a 66 off 60 at No. 7 in the third game and took a four-for in the first game.

Where Shedge will slot in the Mumbai XI could be a selection dilemma with Musheer Khan, captain Siddhesh Lad, Sarfaraz Khan and wicketkeeper Akash Anand occupying the slots from Nos. 3 to 6 in their first match of the season, and with allrounders Shams Mulani, Tanush Kotian and Tushar Deshpande slotting in below them.

Raghuvanshi comes into the squad on the back of scores of 201 and 203 at the Under-23 level. He missed the opening game of the Ranji season since Jaiswal was available. Mumbai will now have to field a new opening combination against Himachal Pradesh in Bilaspur for the second round starting on Sunday.
