RailTel Corporation bags ₹49 crore work order from Odisha Higher Education Department

by BollywoodNewsAndMovie

Telecom infrastructure firm RailTel Corporation of India Ltd on Tuesday (October 13) said it has received a work order worth ₹48.98 crore, including taxes, from the Higher Education Department of the Odisha government for developing 83 digital application modules.

The project involves developing the modules under a Comprehensive Digital Governance Platform, along with resource deployment and integration with the existing enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. The work order was received on October 13, 2026, at 2:10 pm. RailTel is required to complete the project by May 10, 2027.

The work order has been awarded by a domestic entity. RailTel said the promoters or promoter group have no interest in the awarding entity and that the contract does not fall under related-party transactions.

In August this year, RailTel Corporation of India said it has reiterated its revenue growth guidance of 20-25% for FY27, Chairman and Managing Director Sanjai Kumar said, after the company posted 20% growth in the April-June 2026 quarter.

Kumar said telecom revenue is expected to grow 7-8% for the current financial year 2026-27 (FY27), while the project business, backed by a strong order book, is expected to grow 40-50% annually.

He added that the revenue mix between projects and telecom, currently around 60:40, could shift to 70:30, putting pressure on overall margins even as individual segment margins hold steady.

Kumar said the company’s Kavach railway safety business, which will start recognising revenue this year, carries margins better than the 4-5% project range and should support overall margin improvement.

He said RailTel is targeting ₹300 crore in data centre revenue this year and ₹500 crore by 2027-28 (FY28), funded through partnerships with real estate players rather than direct capital investment.

Kumar said over ₹2,000 crore in government trade receivables as of March reflects timing delays in milestone payments rather than a funding risk, since project financing is largely provided by business associate partners.

Shares of RailTel Corporation of India Ltd ended at ₹252.30, up by ₹4.15, or 1.67%, on the BSE.
