Jaipur: The Primary Teachers’ Association (Level 1) has urged the state education department to introduce uniform digital identity cards for all govt school teachers, with updated service details and digital signatures of authorised education officers. This will help to ensure their official identity can be verified across the state.State president Vijay Suthar said identity cards issued at the school level lack uniformity, while primary and middle school teachers often do not have them. In senior secondary schools, principals issue and sign identity cards, but the system varies across institutions.“If I am the only teacher in my school, whom should I approach to issue my identity card? We want a uniform identity card issued by the department and authenticated by a block education officer or district education officer,” Suthar said.He said the cards would help teachers establish their official identity when visiting public places or attending programmes. The service details on the cards should also be updated after transfers, postings and promotions. The association has sent a memorandum to the education minister, proposing a dedicated module on Shala Darpan portal to generate, digitally sign, download and print the cards.Suthar said the department had issued identity cards in 2018 and 2020, but the initiative was discontinued, partly because of difficulties in managing the process offline. The association has urged govt to establish a permanent online system.
