Pakistan’s National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has summoned Mohammad Rizwan for an in-person appearance on October 2. In a one-page notice, the agency has said it wants the former captain’s cooperation under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA). The NCCIA already has Rizwan’s phone in its possession.
Rizwan (34) has been under the NCCIA scanner since the conclusion of the Lord’s Test on August 30. His phone was seized in London that night and has not been returned since. He appeared before the agency on September 10, and the latest summon is for a second round of inquiry under the cyber crime act.
Should Rizwan show up, it will be his second appearance before the agency. Sources in Pakistan say the former captain, who has requested the NCCIA to return his mobile device, will appear before the agency.
“The Agency is conducting an inquiry regarding the matter covered under relevant provisions of PECA, 2016. In this regard, your cooperation is requested for the forensic examination of the device seized from you.
“Therefore, you are directed to appear in person before the undersigned to extend your cooperation for the above purpose on 02-10-2026 time 3.00 PM at the Police Station, National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), Street No 15, Wafaqi Colony, Canal Road, Lahore,” the one-page notice to Rizwan says.
The notice further says, “In case of non-appearance it will be assumed that you have nothing to present or state in your defense.”
Rizwan is obliged to appear before the agency because the Lahore High Court, in its recent order, directed him to cooperate with the agency while also directing the agency not to subject him to any harassment or unnecessary inconvenience. The court further instructed the agency to conduct the inquiry strictly in accordance with the law.
