RANCHI, India (CMC):
West Indies players Rovman Powell and Sherfane Rutherford have each received an official reprimand and one demerit point after admitting to separate Level 1 breaches of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second T20 International against India in Ranchi.
According to the ICC, Powell was found guilty of breaching Article 2.2, which relates to “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an international match”.
His offence occurred in the sixth over of the West Indies innings when he struck the ball away with his bat after being dismissed by Mayank Yadav.
Rutherford was found guilty of breaching Article 2.8, which covers “showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during an international match”.
During the 13th over, Rutherford reacted aggressively towards the umpire after a wide was not awarded.
The charges were laid by on-field umpires Jayaraman Madanagopal and Rohan Pandit, third umpire Nitin Menon, and fourth umpire Virender Sharma.
Both Powell and Rutherford admitted the offences and accepted the sanctions.
