CHANDIGARH, 06.10.26-A five-day ICT Skills Training Workshop for Prospective B.Ed. Teachers was inaugurated today at Government College of Education, Sector 20-D, Chandigarh, by Dr. Palika Arora, PCS, Director Higher Education, Chandigarh Administration, in the presence of Ms. Priya Tandon, Representative of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vahini in Chandigarh and State Coordinator (Haryana), and Dr. Sapna Nanda, Principal, Government College of Education, Chandigarh.
The workshop is being organised from October 5 to 9, 2026, in collaboration with Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vahini, Prasanthi Nilayam, Andhra Pradesh, with the objective of strengthening the digital competencies of prospective teachers and preparing them to effectively integrate technology into the teaching-learning process.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Palika Arora highlighted the growing importance of Information and Communication Technology and Artificial Intelligence in contemporary education. She encouraged prospective teachers to make meaningful, creative and responsible use of emerging technologies to enhance classroom teaching and create engaging learning experiences.
Dr. Sapna Nanda, Principal, welcomed the dignitaries and resource persons and appreciated the collaboration with Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vahini. She emphasised the importance of digital skills for future educators and promoting innovative teaching practices.
The workshop is being conducted under the guidance of Smt. Karuna Munshi, Director, Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vahini. The Resource Team includes Keshaba Mishra, Head of Multimedia Team; Radhika Balachandran, Nandini Nagesh, and Mutya Valli Devi, along with volunteers from Sri Sathya Sai Organisation, Chandigarh.
The intensive hands-on training programme covers customisation of MS PowerPoint, interactive e-content creation using H5P, audio and video creation, YouTube hosting, web hosting and blogging, virtual conferencing, AI-powered teaching resources, and Responsible AI in Education.
At the college level, the workshop is being coordinated by Dr. Suman Khokhar faculty of Government College of Education, Chandigarh, for ensuring effective coordination and smooth conduct of the five-day training programme.
