The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has denied reports alleging that a political protest poster was circulated through its official WhatsApp channel. In a clarification issued on October 13, 2026, the Board stated that it does not operate any official WhatsApp channel of the kind mentioned in the report and said the allegation lacked an authenticated basis. The report, quoting BJP Punjab President Kewal Singh Dhillon, alleged that a poster related to a proposed protest against the Chief Election Commissioner had been shared through a WhatsApp channel with approximately 4.48 lakh followers. PSEB said it had neither operated such a channel nor authorised one to disseminate its official information.PSEB questions authenticity of reported channelAccording to the Board, attributing the circulation of the poster to its official communication platform was misleading and unsupported by authenticated evidence provided in the report.PSEB said it disseminates official information through authorised communication platforms. The institution is responsible for school education, examinations, academic activities and services for students, teachers, parents and affiliated institutions. The Board reiterated that the reported allegation could not be authenticated insofar as it linked the poster’s circulation to an official PSEB WhatsApp channel.Board urges verification before publicationThe Board expressed concern over reports concerning public institutions being published without prior verification of the relevant facts with the institution concerned. It said unverified claims could create confusion among students, parents, teachers and the general public, while potentially affecting public confidence in the institution.PSEB urged media organisations and members of the public to verify the authenticity of purported official communication channels before attributing content or activities to the Board. It also stressed that claims involving the use of an official platform should be supported by verifiable evidence and that clarification should be sought from the competent authority before publication.PSEB reiterates commitment to transparencyIn its statement, the Board reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, factual communication and the discharge of its educational responsibilities in the public interest. The clarification was issued by the Public Relations Office of the Punjab School Education Board in S.A.S. Nagar on October 13, 2026. The Board’s statement addresses the reported attribution of the poster to an official WhatsApp channel and maintains that no authenticated basis has been established for that claim.
