Laycock also registered the best bowling figures in the history of CSA Pro20 Cup, surpassing Beuran Hendricks’ 6 for 29 in 2014.
The 19th over of Titans’ innings produced the remarkable record. Laycock first dismissed Leus du Plooy, before removing Dayyaan Galiem, Aphiwe Mnyanda, Janco Smit and Esosa Aihevba off the next four deliveries. The five wickets brought Titans innings to an end on 204 from 193 for 4.
Laycock had earlier provided KZN Inland with their first breakthrough, dismissing Lhuan-dre Pretorius for 81 off 36 balls in the ninth over after Titans had put on 112 for the opening stand.
Despite Laycock’s record-breaking performance, KZN Inland lost the match by 21 runs. Chasing 205, they finished on 183 for 6, with Laycock contributing an unbeaten 31. The victory extended Titans’ unbeaten run in the competition to six matches at the top of the table.
