Kia Community Hero nominees:
Suzy Ashworth – Hollinsend
Suzy leads Hollinshead’s women’s softball team with great passion. She got involved with the club when her sons joined the junior section and organised the women’s team
This year she created an advert for the local carnival programme that brought two new players, while a “fun night” for women at the club brought a further two.
Her next ambition is to develop a hard ball team for our increasing number of junior girls to get more game time. I have no doubt that with Suzy’s passion behind it this will happen.
Liam Gibbons – Maghull
Every cricket club relies on people who quietly dedicate countless hours behind the scenes, and for Maghull, that person is Liam Gibbons.
Their commitment to our junior section has transformed the experience of hundreds of young cricketers and their families. They work tirelessly throughout the year, coordinating training sessions, organising fixtures, communicating with parents, recruiting volunteers, ensuring safeguarding and coaching requirements are met, and making sure every child has the opportunity to enjoy cricket in a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment.
