Malayalam superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran has collaborated with Kareena Kapoor Khan for Meghna Gulzar’s cop thriller Daayra.
The movie marks Prithviraj’s sixth venture in Bollywood and unfortunately none of his five previous films in Hindi cinema turned out to be box office hits.

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s 5 Bollywood Films Before Daayra
Prithviraj made his debut in Hindi cinema with the 2012 film Aiyyaa starring Rani Mukerji in the lead role.
He followed it up with Aurangzeb (2013)starring Arjun Kapoor and Naam Shabana (2017) starring Taapsee, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (2024) starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, and the OTT film Sarzameen (2025) starring Ibrahim Ali Khan and Kajol.
Unfortunately, none of the films worked at the box office.

While failing to become box office hits, none of these films could garner positive reviews from the critics or the audiences.
The sole OTT release in the list Sarzameen was trashed as well.
Now, Daayra is expected to break Prithviraj Sukumaran’s jinx in Hindi cinema and become a success at the box office.

The official synopsis of Daayra reads, “Daayra follows DCP Raman Kumar (Prithviraj Sukumaran) and DCP Ajooni Kohli (Kareena Kapoor Khan) as a case places them on opposing sides of the same system. As their paths collide, the film examines truth, accountability and the moral boundaries of justice.”
Written by Meghna Gulzar, Sima Agarwal and Yash Keswani, the film also stars Kanwaljit Singh, Achint Kaur, Anuja Sathe, Seema Azmi, Biswapati Sarkar and Jitendra Joshi.
Daayra releases in theatres on September 18, 2026. It is clashing at the box office with Kunal Kemmu and Preity Zinta’s Vibe.
