Ramayana is the most anticipated Bollywood film of 2026. The Ranbir Kapoor-Sai Pallavi-Yash-starrer has managed to earn Rs 115 crore just through advanced booking. In an interview with SCREEN, actor Adinath Kothare who plays Bharath in the movie says the atmosphere on the set was most sombre and disciplined. He compared the set to a temple and explained that there was perfect discipline maintained even when the cameras were not on.

“Ramayana was a very disciplined set — no mobile phones were allowed. That discipline was a part of a sacred force that kept everyone aligned. Stepping onto the sets of the Ramayana was like stepping into a temple. Even when cameras were not rolling, discipline was maintained. It was very well planned and one of the quietest sets I have worked on. It was beautiful,” he said.

The Marathi star also revealed how Ranbir Kapoor helped him master a scene. He admitted he was nervous for the first few days, as he was not sure of the dynamics and was nervous as to how he would break the ice with his fellow co-stars. For a scene he desired to improvise but stopped due to nervousness and decided to blindly follow the director. Ranbir Kapoor, however, noticed the hesitation and asked him to trust his gut.
““I was nervous on the first day, but there was a wonderful moment. In the first few days, you are figuring out, as an actor, how to search for the character and how to manoeuvre yourself on the set. You are trying to gauge the dynamics, looking for an ice-breaking moment to feel comfortable on the set. Firstly, it was the set of the Ramayana, and the responsibility was so sacred. There was a moment when we were standing; there was me, Shri Ram, Laxman, and Shatrughan. We were supposed to be looking at something and react. We did the rehearsal, and I was tempted to improvise, but I was scared, and so I was blindly following Nitesh Sir’s instructions. Before the take, Ranbir tapped me on the shoulder and suggested doing the same thing I was thinking about. I did that, and Nitesh Sir shouted after the shot that it was good. That moment became an ice-breaker for me. I became a part of that family,” he said.

Ramayana: Part 1 will be hitting the theatres on November 5. The Hindu epic will be told through two movies, and the budget for the duology has been revealed to be Rs 4,000 crore, thereby making it the most expensive film ever made.
