ALIGARH, October 21: The Centre for Continuing and Adult Education & Extension (CCAEE), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), organised a one-week workshop on fruit preservation in collaboration with the Horticulture Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, to promote practical skills and awareness of food processing among participants.
Mr Shyam Sundar, the resource person, conducted hands-on sessions on preparing value-added food products, including jam, pickle and lemon squash. Participants learned fruit preservation techniques, hygienic food preparation and proper processing and storage methods.
The workshop also highlighted the potential of fruit preservation as a useful life skill and a possible avenue for self-employment, combining practical training with opportunities for vocational development.
Dr Shamim Akhtar, Director of the Centre, delivered the concluding remarks, emphasising the importance of acquiring practical skills and exploring opportunities in food processing and preservation.
