ALIGARH, September 25: Sarojini Naidu Hall, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), organised a Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) Pledge Ceremony to sensitise students about the harmful effects of substance abuse and encourage collective efforts towards maintaining a healthy and substance-free lifestyle.
The programme was organised under the overall supervision of Prof. Orus Ilyas, Provost, S.N. Hall, with the participation of Wardens Dr. Kaleem Ahmad, Dr. Ruquiya Afrose, Dr. Fahmeeda Zeenat, Ms. Aimen Faheem and Ms. Varisha, along with staff members and Hall residents.
The residents were apprised of the physical, psychological, social and academic consequences of substance use and were encouraged to adopt responsible and disciplined lifestyles. The programme also focused on early identification of warning signs, preventive measures, behavioural changes associated with substance use, the role of peer support, and the importance of timely counselling and appropriate support.
Awareness material relating to the National De-addiction and Tele-counselling Helpline services was also disseminated among the residents for wider awareness and reference.
The activity was organised in compliance with the directions regarding dissemination of awareness videos and the QR Code for e-Pledge under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
